Engineering Insurance
Engineering insurance provides cover for repair or reinstatement of machinery in the event of breakdown or damage. This can apply to the likes of passenger/goods lifts, heating and ventilation equipment, conveyor belts and other machinery. By law, many items (such as boilers, lifts and lifting machinery) must be inspected regularly by a qualified person and this service can be provided by some insurers.
What could happen?
Engineering insurance can be something that many businesses do not think they need as part of their insurance programme. However, if a business has plant or equipment that is essential to operations then consideration should be given to the consequences of how this will be managed if there is a failure.
How we can help?
We are able to source cover to suit the specific needs of your business and some of the most common areas that can be covered by an engineering policy include the following:
• Machinery – covering movement (and installation) risks, breakdown and business interruption (consequential losses following a breakdown)
• Deterioration of stock – a specialist policy is available to cover the deterioration of stock following breakdown of refrigeration plant
• Construction – Contractors All Risks (CAR) and Erection All Risks (EAR) policies are needed for many one-off projects
• Statutory Inspection –a policy providing an annual service contract can be provided. Ownership of certain plant and machinery includes a legal obligations to make sure it is safe and fit for purpose
